Naked dresses remain among the most impressive of all red carpet feats. While we’ve now grown used to spotting barely-there designs and expertly-placed material on nearly every celebrity red carpet (including major award shows, like the Golden Globes and the Oscars), they never fail to leave us impressed.

However, not every celebrity is a fan of going super sheer or enjoys rocking cutouts. After all, you’re risking major wardrobe malfunctions with this fashion choice, and you have to have that extra dose of confidence to truly own your outfit, ensuring that you look fierce — not terrified — in photographs.

Take Naomi Campbell’s appearance in Valentino’s Spring/Summer 2019 Couture show, for instance, where she boldly walked the runway wearing a full, naked gown with a ruffled skirt. Or, reflect back on Rihanna’s famous, sparkling CFDA dress, which even came complete with a matching thong (commitment!). These are the celebrity naked dress moments that we’ll never forget. They were daring, fun, and downright historic.

In case you need a refresher, or are simply feeling the lull between now and the next major, headline-making look, click through to see the best naked dresses of all time.
