I don't know about you, but I'm feeling nostalgic these days. Maybe it's because this time of year always reminds me of the start of summer break (Alexa, play "School's Out"), or maybe it's all the inescapable throwback fashion trends conjuring up my outfits of yore. Whatever the reason, I'm embracing these feelings to the full extent.
It seems like celebs are feeling nostalgic, too, or at least that's the message their street style is sending. Emily Ratajkowski just sported a look that's straight out of my middle school-era closet: black leggings, an oversized tee, a colorful fleece, and the coolest kicks of the early aughts — the Vans Old Skool Sneaker.
EmRata has become somewhat of a sneaker queen. She's got Reeboks, she's got Sugergas, and now she's got a new pair of Vans, and they're arguably her best pair yet. Vans are durable and comfy — non-negotiables for a good walking sneaker — and they're quite fashionable, too.
Sure, they may be deemed a skate shoe, but as so many celebs have proven, you don't actually have to own a skateboard to wear them. Kaia Gerber, Sophie Turner, Hailey Bieber, and Zendaya have all taken the retro style out for a spin. Fashion editors love them, too, as do Nordstrom shoppers, who call the Old Skool "the perfect everyday sneaker" that's "cute, comfy, and cool."
