When Lake Park High School’s theater department opens the fall production of the evocative “Steel Magnolias” by Robert Harling this weekend, the stage will be transformed thanks to the generous donations of local businesses.
Set in Chinquapin, Louisiana, Truvy’s beauty shop will come to life with a set that includes styling chairs, fixtures, tools as well as various salon products, packages and more.

Special thanks to Dazzles Salon in Roselle; Karli Federighi, a hair artist-extension specialist and airbrush tanning technician; and Len’s Ace Hardware in Addison for their contributions to make these performances possible.
The story is about Truvy (played by sophomore Eden Strahan) and her assistant Annelle (junior Sophia Derkacz) providing friendship and style in their small town. Their customers include: mother and daughter M’Lynn (sophomore Kelly Hanssen) and Shelby (junior Caroline Bisceglie); curmudgeon Ouiser, played by senior Angela Kalish; and former mayor’s wife, Clairee, portrayed by senior Mikayla Testolin.
English teacher and theater director Kathy Weber commented, “Filled with hilarious repartee, the play is also realistic. This talented ensemble will bring to the stage an entertaining show with many touching moments.”
