This year’s Hainesville Civil War event will re-enact the Battle of Bentonville, the last great battle of the Civil War.
Relive history in Hainesville as knowledgeable re-enactors, both military and civilian, in period costume re-create an American Civil War event hosted by the Northbrook Sports Club.

Hainesville’s Civil War Encampment and Battle returns Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 16 and 17, in a rural setting on the north end of the Northbrook Sports Club property, south of the intersection of Route 120 and Hainesville Road.
Event hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Event highlights include:
• Narrated battle with infantry, cavalry and artillery. This year the event will re-create the Battle of Bentonville in North Carolina, the last great battle of the Civil War.
• Military and civilian bivouacs and encampments.
• Battlefield surgeries, undertakers and medical displays.
• Period dressed military and civilian presenters with period music.
• Special guests, including Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln; Elijah Haines, the founder of Hainesville; General Ulysses Grant; William Irving Kirk, a Southern abolitionist clergy; and Thomas Morris Chester, the only Black Civil War reporter for a major daily newspaper.

In addition to the battle and presentations, visitors will have opportunities to question participants about their characters’ roles in the period of history re-created. Food vendor sales will also be available.
Signs are posted throughout the event site to direct visitors to the various activities. A site map will also be included in the event program. All activities can be accessed by walking; golf carts will be available to transport guests with disabilities, as needed.

Admission is free. On-site parking is $10 cash per vehicle or $5 cash per motorcycle.
