Oktoberfest brews will be flowing at Bub City in Rosemont and River North as the annual celebration gets rolling Friday, Sept. 17. Raise a pint of Goose Island or Revolution Brewing Oktoberfest beers while dining on German-inspired fare such as beer brats with sauerkraut and hot mustard, jumbo pretzels with beer cheese and hot mustard, and kasespatzel, a cheesy spatzel with caramelized onions. Starting Wednesday, Sept. 22, City Works Eatery and Pour House and Old Town Pour House will honor Oktoberfest with new seasonal dishes and beers. Available through Sunday, Oct. 3, specials include chicken schnitzel (breaded chicken breast, fried egg, Pilsner Düsseldorf aioli and hefeweizen braised slaw on a kaiser roll) for $14 and spaetzle (housemade herb spaetzle, hefeweizen Mornay, braised pork belly, caramelized onions and brown butter bread crumbs) for $13.
