Back to Our Roots: Lake County Micro Fair returns July 30 to Aug. 1

The "Back to Our Roots" Lake County Micro Fair will take place July 30 to Aug. 1 at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake, with rides and games, food, live music, an expo hall, a virtual livestock auction and more.

The Lake County Fair will return for its 92nd year July 30 to Aug. 1 in the form of the “Back to Our Roots” micro fair.

This will be the Lake County Fairgrounds’ first self-hosted event since the pandemic, and will follow all state and local guidelines for public health and safety. The Lake County Fairgrounds is at 1060 E. Peterson Road, Grayslake.

The fair will feature rides and games, live music, food, an expo hall, bingo, a vaccination clinic, a demolition derby and more.

Festival hours will be noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Midway rides and games open at noon and expo hall hours are noon to 6 p.m. daily.

Musical acts will include Red Panda and the Pilgrim Souls, Wichita Jacks, Dixon Bandits and Final Say on Friday; Edgar Gabriel’s StringFusion, Chapel Hill and Chicago Latin Groove on Saturday; and Zydeco Voodoo, Roger That and Brecken Miles on Sunday.

The demolition derby will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

The fair will include a virtual livestock auction featuring market steers, lambs, pigs and goats from 4-H and Open Class exhibitors. Bidding starts at 10 a.m. Saturday.

All tickets must be purchased online; no tickets will be sold at the gate. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6-12, and free for children younger than 5 and active military in uniform.
