If your mantra is “Go big or stay home,” then you’re in luck. In just the first few months of 2022, we’ve seen some pretty epic hotel openings and the remaining 2022 line-up appears to be just as sweet. Here’s a snapshot of what’s opening when and why they may have you begging to check in early and check out late.
Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya – Mexico
Opened in January
Set in a natural sanctuary in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, this luxe – and large – property features 349 rooms and suites, several pools, a high-end spa, six bars and five restaurants – from Japanese to Mediterranean. The gorgeous oversized handcarved doors are just one of the design elements that pay tribute to Mayan history and architecture through the work of local artisans.
Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad
Opening in spring
This swanky new Ritz-Carlton in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood (that’s North of Madison Square Park for you non-New Yorkers) was newly-built from the ground up with 250 guest rooms and 16 luxury penthouse residences. It will feature two new restaurants and a rooftop bar from Michelin-starred chef and feel-good humanitarian José Andrés. Guests can also chill out in the hotel’s signature 6,800-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Spa and Fitness Center.
Stanly Ranch – Napa, California
Opening in April
I’ve never met an Auberge property I didn’t like. That’s why I’m looking forward to checking out three of their new properties opening this year, two in California and one in New York (read on for those).
Originally a working ranch, Stanly Ranch is set on over 700 acres of rolling vineyards and farmland in the southern part of Napa Valley’s wine-growing region. There are 78 freestanding cottages – some with outdoor showers – among the 135 total rooms, all with outdoor terraces, fire pits and views of the Mayacamas Mountains. The resort will also offer an Auberge spa (Halehouse), three dining venues and behind-the-scenes experiences in wine country.
The Chatwal Lodge – White Lake, New York
Opening in April
Just 90 minutes from Manhattan, this fancy lodge will take you back to Adirondack log cabin life, just a lot less rustic. Built on The Chapin Estate, a 2,500-acre gated residential community, the Lodge features 11 suites with private patios overlooking the 1,000-acre Toronto Reservoir Lake.
Nobu Santorini – Greece
Opening in May
The sleek Nobu hotel brand continues to expand with their newest outpost on the Greek island of Santorini – their first in Greece and their 26th around the world. Naturally, the property will also be home to a Nobu restaurant as well as a full-service spa, fitness center, five luxury pool villas and – true to the Santorini aesthetic – a dramatic infinity pool with panoramic views of the Caldera. The property will be located in Imerovigli, near the paved walking path that leads to the main city of Fira.
Aman New York
Opening in May
Located at 57th Street and 5th Avenue in a prime location near Central Park, this upscale brand will make its New York debut in May and will be home to the first urban Aman Residences in the world. Aman’s reputation of providing unparalleled service and amenities is likely to propel it to the top of the list of New York’s luxury hotels.
Not only will it be home to a jazz club, a wine library, a three-story spa and a cigar bar with a terrace offering views of the Manhattan skyline, but its suites will feature working fireplaces. It sounds like the perfect escape from the chaos of New York, which is apropos since the translation of the Sanskrit word “aman” is “peaceful.”
The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern – Los Olivos, California
Opening in summer
For a Santa Barbara wine country experience, Auberge Resorts will also be opening The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern this summer in the charming town of Los Olivos. The hotel originally served as a stagecoach stop during the California gold rush years and has remained a local landmark. The resort will feature 67 luxury guest rooms and cottages with a modern farmhouse design inspired by nearby ranch life.

More than doubled in size, guest suites will feature raised ceilings and taller doors, allowing for an abundance of natural light. Suites will feature deep soaking tubs and indoor showers, as well as extensive outdoor decks with private plunge pools.
Wildflower Farms – Gardiner, New York
