Zoë Kravitz's looks for the Batman movie press tour have been so good, I don't even know what to do with myself or where to start. By now we've all seen the premiere YSL gown with under-boob cut-outs and the custom Oscar de La Renta gown with a cat neckline that was so on-the-nose for her role as Catwoman in the absolute best way possible. All of these looks took the collective breath of the internet away and personally, I almost didn't recover.
But when I finally did come up to breathe, I saw that Kravitz had just been on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, wearing a Saint Laurent semi-sheer turtleneck top and a Saint Laurent feather-trimmed pencil skirt. Somehow she transformed these two unsexy wardrobe staples, often associated with an office uniform, into a really hot look. How exactly? Well for one, she's Zoë Kravitz, and her undeniably hot aura makes even a simple tank top and Dickies pant combo look ethereal. Making a pencil skirt hot is in her blood.
For all of us mere mortals who are unfortunately not blessed with Kravtiz's perfect DNA though, there's thankfully a styling trick that can help transform a simple turtleneck and pencil skirt look. Kravitz wore the skirt low on her hips revealing a sliver of skin. It's that easy. Pencil skirts and turtlenecks are so modest that this unexpected flash of midriff instantly takes the look from day to night. Literally. And if you're not into low-rise jeans, this kind of styling feels like the most subtle nod to the trend without going overboard. If Katie Holmes can make cardigans sexy in 2019, then Kravitz can certainly do the same in 2022 for pencil skirts. May the era of the hot midi skirt begin.
