Last year in April, I wrote an ode to the Adidas Samba sneaker and predicted that supermodels like Bella Hadid, who had been wearing the soccer shoe nonstop, would sell it out. And guess what? Bella Hadid just wore the sneaker again during Milan Fashion Week, and now, it's nearly impossible to find in most sizes online. Thankfully, Amazon does still have some in stock, and miraculously, they're on sale for $55.
The sneaker reminds me of going to high school soccer practice and idolizing the cool older girls on my team who wore the sneakers. There was something so effortless about the way they'd slip into them before practice and pair them with a loose eyelet dress. We'd ride home from practice on the subway and I was completely mesmerized by the sporty feminine look, which would, unknowingly, define the way I currently dress years after. But never would I have imagined supermodels like Hadid wearing them after walking runway shows in Milan.
Hadid styled hers with chunky white socks, a pair of opaque tights (which were also trending during NYFW), and a brown striped skirt mismatched with a colorful striped top. To give the look an even sportier vibe, Hadid topped it off with a green baseball hat. I stand by my 13-year-old belief that these are the greatest sneakers ever, and I'm so elated that the nostalgic look is coming back.
