Ring in Fourth with Mundelein Community Days festivities

Music, a carnival and even a butterfly release highlight Mundelein Community Days 2022, which runs Friday through Monday, July 1-4. Most events take place in Kracklauer Park, 116 N Lake St., Mundelein.

Carnival hours are 5-11 p.m. Friday, 2-11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 2-10 p.m. Monday.

Activities include a carnival sponsored by American Legion Post 867 all four days, fireworks on July 4 at approximately 9:30 p.m., a parade July 3, food, music, games, contests, demonstrations, displays and plenty of children’s activities.

New activities and events this year include the Kirk Players Improv Team, Great Big Bubble Making, Princess Meet and Greet, and “Decorate Your Own Butterfly” and Live Butterfly Release by the Beautification Committee.

Saturday, July 2, is Alumni Night. Represent Mundelein High School or Carmel Catholic High School by wearing school colors.

Mundelein’s community builder parade, which steps off at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 3, forms in the Metra Parking Lot and proceeds west on Division, north on Seymour, then west on Hawley Street to Mundelein High School.

Come out for the popular musical acts set to grace the stage at Mundelein Community Days. Bands include Gina Gonzalez & the Wingmen performing American alternative rock from the ’90s, sprinkled with favorite songs from every generation; Brass From The Past, a horn band that performs the hits of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s; Brushville performing upbeat country; Second Hand Soul Band performing Motown, funk and soul; Kashmir, a Led Zeppelin tribute band; Kevin Purcell & the Nightburners performing boogie blues rock, with a touch of swampy funk; local favorite 7th heaven; and RealTime Noise, performing party tunes, classic rock and R&B.
