The Mount Prospect Lions Club will launch a series of weekend summer events starting Saturday.

Beginning Saturday, the Mount Prospect Lions Club is launching a series of weekend summer events.

Highlights include the Bluesmobile Cruise Nights, running from 3 to 9 p.m. every Saturday through Sept. 24 in the West Metra parking lot near Route 83 and Northwest Highway downtown.

Attendees can view nearly 150 classic cars while a DJ provides the soundtrack.

For the kickoff weekend, food from Ernesto’s Taqueria will be available.

The Farmers Market will begin June 5 and run every Sunday through Oct. 30. It will feature 45 vendors offering fresh produce, fruits and vegetables from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the West Metra lot.

The market also will offer special entertainment and other activities.

The 83rd annual Mount Prospect Lions Club Fourth of July Festival will take place June 30 through July 4 at Melas Park, 1500 W. Central Road. Residents can expect five days of live music, food, fun and fireworks. The full festival schedule is expected to be announced soon.

“It’s going to be another great summer in Mount Prospect,” Lions Club President Robert Tovella said. “We look forward to seeing many friends and neighbors at our events. Please do not hesitate to contact any one of our friendly volunteer members on-site, via our Facebook page, or website. ‘We Serve’ is much more than a slogan. We are here for you.”

Founded in 1934, the Mount Prospect Lions Club is one of the area’s largest financial contributors to local organizations, churches and schools that help the blind, the hearing-impaired, the disabled and many others in need in Mount Prospect and surrounding communities.
