Kendall Jenner is a pro at this whole naked-dress thing. Whether she's on the red carpet or dining at Nobu, the model can be counted on to make a totally sheer garment seem occasion-appropriate. It's no wonder, then, that for her "A Night with 818 Tequila" event in Miami this weekend, Jenner wore a head-to-toe mesh dress.
The maxi, a vintage 1996 dress by Jean Paul Gaultier that she got from new NYC concept store Aberizk, was less see-through than usual thanks to the double-layered fabric. But that didn't stop Jenner from making a cheeky statement about prying eyes. The dress, from Gautier's X-Ray collection, featured a heat map-like skeleton print on the bodice and arms, as if to say: "You want to see more? Here's more." It was all very Robbie Williams "Rock DJ" music video if anyone else also has that scarred into their brain.
Gaultier's X-ray collection came out just a year after Jenner was born 1995, and it's just one of the many iconic motifs introduced by the designer. Similar X-ray items are trading for thousands on resale platforms like 1stDibs and Vestiaire Collective, if you're lucky enough to find them at all. But many other Gaultier signatures command as much admiration and fanfare, like his tattoo prints, variously sized spots, and nautical stripes — the best of which are also executed in telltale JPG mesh.
