Need a laugh? Maggiano’s in Naperville is hosting a comedy show (courtesy of Chicago Comedy Scene Radio) and dinner starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 26. The $85 per person ticket includes a plated meal of goat cheese crostini; Italian tossed salad; a choice of Parmesan-crusted Alaskan cod, eggplant Parmesan with spaghetti aglio or chicken Francese; and miniature New York Style Cheesecake. Ever Onward opens

In case you missed it, the modern bar Ever Onward opened last week in downtown Elmhurst, offering local craft beers, wine, fresh-made hard seltzers and bar bites. Specialty cocktails include the Elmhurst Mule (Tito’s with fresh lime, ginger and mint, no copper), the Paper Plane (Maker’s Mark, aperol, amaro and lemon) and the strawberry jalapeño fresh housemade seltzer. “We aim to be Elmhurst’s local bar — a place to grab a beer, a bite, meet friends or watch the game,” owner Tom Trenta says.

Wine & dine

Splurge on a night out with Wildfire’s five-course Joel Gott Wine Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, in Oak Brook and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in Glenview. A rep from Trinchero Family Estates will discuss the wine pairings while patrons dine on lobster Newburg cream puffs and spinach-artichoke and goat cheese fondue paired with Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc, California ’21; grouper piccata paired with Joel Gott Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley ’21; pan-seared New York strip steak paired with Joel Gott 815 Cabernet Sauvignon, California ’19; artisan cheeses paired with Joel Gott “Palisades” Red Wine, California ’18; and chocolate glazed chocolate tart paired with Joel Gott Zinfandel, California ’19. It’s $95 per person; reservations are required.

Buffalo Trace Tasting Event

Calling all bourbon fans: CityGate Grille is hosting a Buffalo Trace Bourbon: Making & Tasting Event from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30. The restaurant’s mixologist will be serving up to four different cocktails using Buffalo Trace Bourbon. The $60 ticket also includes passed appetizers from the new bar menu being debuted during the tasting.
