I have no idea what's going on. 2021 has had more plot twists in the last three months than it's had all year, so much so that I've thrown out my bingo card. I'm just going to go ahead and count on 2022 having even just a little more consistency, because the only thing that feels consistent right now is celebrities' dedication to oversized bags.
Since you can't leave the house without hand sanitizer, a handful of KN95 face masks, back-up hand sanitizer, hand moisturizer, and more face masks, the death of the mini bag and subsequent rise of the macro bag is the only thing I can predict with any certainty. Amal Clooney has famously been on the big satchel wave for a while now, and Angelina Jolie was seen toting an oversized $2,700 Salvatore Ferragamo Studio Top-Handle Bag at the D.C. airport recently, which is how I know we're about to see this trend everywhere. Jolie wore the Ferragamo with a simple black face mask, and if I had to guess, it was probably her go-to Evolvetogether (and there were likely some extra in that bag).
Since the end of 2021 is starting to look like the beginning of 2020, it's probably worth stocking up on Hollywood's favorite masks before they sell out again, as they always do.
